What is LimmudBoston?
Everyone is a learner! LimmudBoston is the annual, volunteer-driven Jewish learning festival of culture and identity which includes everything from food demos and performance to panel discussions and individual talks. Learn! Listen! Watch! Wonder! LimmudBoston workshops explore life cycle events, Israel, spirituality and identity. At LimmudBoston, we learn and move and explore Jewish topics. Each conference offers nearly 100 learning presentations and hands-on sessions on Torah, text, Jewish identity, movement, meditation, music, food, life cycle, theory and practice—and more.
Anyone may offer to present a session! Just like the 80+ Limmud conferences held around the world, the LimmudBoston program team reviews session proposals from anyone with a passion to present a Jewish topic. Presenters also attend LimmudBoston as learners.
Volunteers make LimmudBoston! Nearly everyone pitches in by both paying to attend the conference, and or volunteering to help with a planning team, or by choosing a task on conference day.
No matter where you are on the spectrum of Jewish living, there is more to learn and more to do. As we learn from Pirke Avot, “Turn it and turn it for everything is in it, and through it you will perceive clearly.” — Pirkei Avot, Chapters of the Sages. 5:26
Shabbat: The REST of LimmudBoston
The entire community can be a weekend of learning when area congregations engage LimmudBoston presenters for Shabbat. We will list your congregation as a LimmudBoston Shabbat opportunity if your congregation:
- Your congregation wants to hire one of the LimmudBoston presenters coming for our Sunday conference; or
- Your Congregation already has a Shabbat speaker who will inspire Jewish learning
- LimmudBoston Shabbat experience programs in area synagogues. LimmudBoston presenters serve as visiting scholars throughout the area. Learn more on our Shabbat Experience page. Your Shabbat community can be one of a select group of Boston area synagogues to host a special Shabbat learning opportunity in conjunction with our upcoming LimmudBoston conference.
Everyone is welcome at LimmudBoston
